Chamber Succeeds in Re-Establishing Direct Flights to Croatia

In May 2004, the Chamber, working in partnership with the Croatian Consulate in Mississauga, negotiated the reinstatement of direct flights from Toronto to Zagreb, Croatia.

The charters, run by Skyservice, are the first direct flights from North America to Croatia in over 15 years. The elimination of mandatory stop-overs will enhance Croatia's attractiveness by making it easier for North American travelers to visit this beautiful country.

Capitalizing on being selected as the world's number one tourist destination by Lonely Planet requires direct flights. The Chamber has taken the lead in this regard as part of its mandate to help build on Croatia's advantages and potential. It is currently in discussions with Air Canada senior management regarding the re-establishment of regular, year-round service to Zagreb by 2006.
