Chamber Organizes Employment Law Seminar
Employment Law Basics 101
Seminar participants

The employment relationship is becoming more complex. The introduction of new legislation, seemingly constant revision of existing legislation, and increased enforcement by government agencies can be overwhelming for employers. Owner managed businesses can be particularly vulnerable to inadvertent breaches which can be expensive and time-consuming.

In order to help its members obtain a better understanding of employment law and other workplace issues, the Chamber held an educational seminar entitled Employment Law Basics 101 on June 6, 2006 at the Mississauga Grand Banquet Hall and Convention Centre. Almost thirty people attended the session, which was presented by Mr. Christopher M. Andree of Lawrence, Lawrence, Stevenson LLP. Mr. Andree focuses his practice in the area of employment law, and represents employers in all aspects of their relationships with their employees. He has published articles, lectured and conducted seminars for other lawyers, owners and managers regarding many legal issues in the workplace.

Those who attended found the event extremely informative. The seminar was ideal for owners, managers, controllers, and human resources/payroll personnel.
